The World We Live In

Well here we are on the driest continent and still the government sits on it collective hands and sprouts hot air about saving the River Murray. Surely it is obvious to everyone that the river is in trouble and some thing has to be done about it now. Surely there are some scientists who many years ago predicted this would happen. Surely they had also worked out some potential solutions. Well now is the time to dig up this information and make it happen. We cannot afford to have study after study of the problems and potential solutions. We need a solution now. Someone has to have the guts to instigate a solution now.

If we want Australia to keep developing as a nation we have to tackle this problem now. Grab the bull by the horns, it may be an unpopular solution but if the benefits long term are good for the country, this then has to be the way to go.

Traditionally governments have never looked at long term solutions. A quick fix that will work during their term of office is all that they are interested in. Then when the government changes and the “policy” changes it will give them the ammo for fiery discussions during parliamentary debates. But governments need to look towards the long term future. We the human race intend to be around for a lot longer.
