Audience Training

It seems today that audience do not have a very long attention span. In fact it seems goldfish have a longer attention span. Have you not sat in a theatre and listened to the conversation around you instead of the show. This lack of attention span should be a concern for all thatre companies, dance school, basicly anyone that puts on a show. People cannot seem to consentrate on what is happening on the stage without chatting tothe person next to them, just like in their living room in front of the television. Some people even have the nerve to get their mobile phones out and text message their friends.

Well I think it is time for theatres to fight back, unfortunately we are not allowed to use divices that block mobile phones signal(but I would love to have one). but we need to make audience aware that we wil not tolerate their lack of manners towards other patrons and the people on the stage. It is time we stood up against this lot, those that think what the have to say is better than what the cast have to say.

Maybe we need extremist action like the cast stopping to listen to what the important audience member has to say, it might be something helpful that will improve what the performers are doing and help the audience understand the production better. or maybe it will be Aunt Sally’s recipe for Blueberry pie.

Jokes aside we need to start reminding audiences about what constitutes god behaviour at the theatre and hopefully they will pas it on to their children.
